Field Testing

So I finally broke down and did it. I typed up a bunch of recipes and released them to the world (okay, to Facebook friends) and now I’m waiting with bated breath. (Or is it baited breath?)

I look forward to hearing how the recipes work for other people. I am curious to hear if they are well-received by their palates and stomachs. But mostly, I want to know if I’m just fooling myself.

I know these things work for my family, but we’ve been eating this way for about 18 months. Maybe our taste buds are just really different now. Maybe my instructions were unclear, or I left ingredients out. Or maybe the food is just really, really bad. I’m not sure what I want to hear, but I want to hear something. Soon.

Maybe I want validation that the work we’ve been doing these past 18 months is worth something outside our small family circle, that my hours and hours in the kitchen will be useful to someone else, or that it actually IS true that food can taste good while remaining within our dietary parameters.

Or maybe I’m just really, really impatient and have come to expect instant answers to my queries.

Whatever it is, if you’re interested in having the recipes, let me know. And if you have them… hurry up and make something already! Then let me know what you think. I’m dying over here!!!

    • Here you go, Jo! For the Christmas party, I sprinkled on about 1/3 cup of chopped pecans, too. Enjoy!

      Orange-Steamed Brussels Sprouts

      1 t. olive oil
      15 Brussels sprouts
      ½ t. sea salt
      1/3 c. orange juice

      1. Trim and halve Brussels sprouts.
      2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the sprouts cut side down in the hot skillet. Immediately add orange juice and cover tightly.
      3. Cook for 3-4 minutes more. Uncover and serve.

  1. I’ve hoped for some time that you’d be writing a cook book because there are so many more people on restricted diets. Many are looking for ways to prepare the foods they CAN eat. I’d also like to try the recipe for brussel sprouts brought to the Pastor’s Christmas party.

    • Thanks for the encouragement! I’ll hopefully find a few recipes for Laurie, too, now that she knows what she’s allergic to.

Please see my reply above for the Brussels sprout recipe. Enjoy!
